Keeping track of your roleplay accounts and e-mails.
This is just a pointer that I recently thought I would share, because I always say that I will do this but I never get around to it. If you’re like me, an avid roleplayer that has multiple e-mail accounts and tumblr roleplay accounts, you might find that you sometimes forget the e-mail or url of some of your accounts. If you have Google Chrome or another browser that autosaves information, you might rely on that to save your e-mails and passwords, and expect it to be there every time you log in to an account. Like any and all technology, however, these methods are not 100% reliable. If your computer crashes or you have some issue with your browser, you could lose all of those e-mails and possibly lose those roleplaying accounts. I’ve played the game of trying to get tumblr to help with this before, and it didn’t go well. The only way for them to tell you what e-mail you used to sign up for any given account is if you can prove that the blog is yours - by screencapping a picture of yourself from the blog and sending in a picture of yourself, or posting from a linked twitter account that you are who you say you are, and honestly, I don’t know of anyone that posts pictures of themselves on their roleplay accounts or links them to their twitter.
So, my simple little pointer is to write these things down. It might be time consuming and you might think that it’s pointless, but if you have several accounts that you sometimes don’t use that you might want to log into one day to look at old paras or something, this can come in handy. It can also just come in handy for anyone that just wants to be sure that they’ll have access to their roleplaying accounts just in case something happens to their computer or browser. Some simple ways of doing this:
NOTE: It would be smart to print these things out when they’re done and keep the list or spreadsheet on your desk or tacked to a bulletin board, wherever you usually use your computer. As I said, there are always issues with technology, and you never know, you could lose that file or Google Docs could one day be hacked and everything could be gone. It never hurts to have a hard copy of something. Or better yet, just do this all on paper.
