Jung's 16 Personality Types
According to the theories of Carl Jung, there are 16 basic personality types. Each of these personality types has different motivations and ways of approaching life and interacting with others. The 16 types are given acronyms based on their personalities. For example, ISTJ refers to the Intoverted Sensing Thinking Judging type. The 16 types are as follows:
The categories are generally given short monikers, such as “The Artist” or “The Protector”, but these names are not the same across all websites. The following links are where you can find more information on these personality types, each has a breakdown of the 16 categories, and while the short names are different, the acronyms will be the same, so pay attention to those when making comparisons. These personality types may help you when you are writing characters, but I would recommend not restricting a character’s actions and motivations based upon these categories, as not everyone stays within the confines of any given psychological category.
